Just Keepin' Movin'
Week 4
We had a 'wear read' mufti day raising money for Jump Rope for Heart.
We visited Animal Farm as part of our move it, move it topic. A huge thanks to all the parents who joined us and provided transport.

Week 5
In reading we are practising a range of plays using shadow puppets. That's right, overhead projectors are back!Sunday, 1 November 2015
What am I Riddles
I can be rolled
In my hand you can hold
You can use me in a game
I am insane
What am I?
I feel hard and round
What goes up must come down
I live in a box
I lock up at a finger touch
I help you spell
And there's many of me too
I'm rough on the back
and I spell moo
What am I?
I feel hard and soft
I'm the only one
I am very good you would use me everyday
I live in the bay and say nothing
What am I?
You use me to write
I feel pretty light
I am the colour green
When I'm lost Miss Prokop's mean
What am I?
I feel hard like card
and I bounce and I pounce
My colour is orange and brown
I sometimes bounce to town
What am I?

Oral Language Week 2 Term 4

Room 6 also wrote poems about their favourite parts of themselves and auditioned for the esteemed role of reading their work for Writer's Spot at assembly. Kaylee, Carey, Chali and Mason read their poems to the entire school this afternoon and it was spectacular! Well done guys! You can find everyone's poems on the class library shelf- they're well worth a read.
For homework this week they were given a selection of poems to read, understand and perform to the class. Talei has outdone herself this week by recording her reading of the poem "Big and Little Waves." She reads her poem so expressively I had to share it on here! Enjoy.

Visiting Author Gavin Bishop

His stories about writing and illustrating books were fantastic to hear and our class asked some excellent questions.

Swimming, Chickens and Timers
Today is the last day of swimming. It has been incredible to see the development over the last two weeks and the life guards have all commented on how well behaved Birchwood students are. Ka pai Kowhai kids!
We also had some special visitors in the classroom courtesy of Evelyn and Shane. It was very exciting to have chickens roaming about, particularly when one of the chickens pooped on the carpet. Needless to say Mr Liang was not as excited.
We have begun our unit in Time and this Thursday we investigated how long a minute actually is. The children were required to make a minute timer which proved to much harder than it sounds.
