Mini Pizzas

Today was the last day of cooking with Angela for term 1.  Katipo group cooked the whole class mini pizzas - yum!  We ate them at lunch time and everyone thought they were delicious.  Thanks Angela for all of your hard work.  Room 6 have really enjoyed cooking with you and lots of children in our class have tried these recipes at home with their family.

The Fort

Room 6 are so sad the big as fort is going down. Room 6 are going to miss it. The school loves playing on it. We hope we have something like that again. By Marcos and Charlotte.M

The school Disco

On Thursday the school is going to have a hawaiian Disco night. It starts at 6.30 to 8.30. You will get a glow stick, a drink and lollies. From Marcos and Charlotte.M.

fruit kebabs

Yesterday we made fruit kebabs. You need some fruit, some marshmallows and some kebabs sticks. Only one group did it not all of the class did it.  Not everyone had one. Some of the kids in room 7 got one. You can put on any  fruit  you like, like orange and apple. by Dilynn and Connor

The new playground

In the holidays the playground is going to be ripped  down and the new playground is going to be built.
Some of the old  playground equipment is going to the senior playground. The maypole is one of the things. By Connor and Dilynn

hockey skills

Today we did hockey skills with Jackie . We played lots of games like numbers and king of the square. . On Monday we played rob the nest. You need some hula hoops and some balls and some friends .
We learned how to dribble a hockey ball. by Dilynn and Connor.

Chocolate Crackles

Today Mako group made Chocolate Crackles with Angela.  Great cooking Vannary, Jiselle, Meg, Katelyn and Connor!

Rugby Skills with Andrew

Today we had rippa rugby skills with Andrew.  Andrew taught us how to do a grubber kick and we practised with a partner.  We also did a relay race in teams.  We finished off by playing "King of the Field".  The Crusaders played against the Highlanders and the Small Blacks!

Butterfly Pictures

Room 6 have created some wonderful pastel drawings of butterflies.  We drew light pastel colours in the background and then coloured over them with dark blue or purple pastel.  We then used a skewer to scratch away lines and patterns.  We love them!

Cheese Puffs - Week 6

Last week Marcos, Logan, Liam and Kacee made Cheese Puffs with Angela for cooking.  This was a special recipe made up by one of our teacher aides (Kathryn) who would cook every Friday for the teachers.  Kathryn's cheese puffs are famous (ask any teacher at Birchwood).  Everyone enjoyed having a try and were so easy to make (only 3 ingredients).

Drawing Butterflys!!

Weetbix Tryathlon

Congratulations to Connor, Kayla and Sophie for completing the Weetbix Tryathlon on Sunday.  Kayla did the swimming, Connor did the biking and Sophie did the run. The competitors from Birchwood School won the school $500!

Cooking Week 5

Charlotte, Keziah, Charlotte and Kimberly made us some delicious pikelets this week :).  They served them to us with jam . . . yum!  The children have been given a copy of the recipe in case they want to have a go at home with an adult to supervise using the frypan.

We are compiling a class recipe book of our recipes :)
